Aftercare Instructions

Booking your next appointment…

  • 2-week fills are recommended for most people. For a variety of reasons, some people can wait up to 3 weeks and others may prefer to come in closer to once a week.

  •  In most cases I will be booked out by at least one week.  If you just forgot or have a special occasion, you are welcome to text me if nothing is available online. However, I can never guarantee last minute availability.

Cleansing your lashes…

  • Washing your lashes is very important to prolong the life of your extensions and maintain the health of your natural eyelashes and eyelids.

  • Washing frequency will depend on your skin type. For most people, once a day is ideal. If you have oily skin, you may need to cleanse twice a day.

Wearing Makeup…

  • For best results with eyelash extensions, avoid using mascara altogether. NEVER wear waterproof mascara.

  • When selecting eyeliner, go for a water based (gel or liquid) not oil based (pencil or crayon) and remove regularly. Dark eyeshadow applied with an eyeliner brush is the preferred eyeliner method.

  • Avoid heavy duty concealer around the eye area. Mineral powder is preferred to liquid foundations/concealer. This needs to be cleansed away regularly.

  • The best way to take makeup off is to start with an oil-free make up remover (micellar water works well).  Use a cleansing brush or fingers, NOT cotton ball and follow with eyelash cleanser

Heat and fire…

  • Eyelash extensions will change shape under extreme heat and go flat.  Be mindful when blow drying or straightening hair, especially if you have bangs. Cooking or baking can be another common culprit.

  • Eyelash extensions are flammable and can easily be singed. Be very careful around fire. This is an occasional issue for people who smoke.

Try not to mess with them…

  • Try not to rub or itch your eyes. If you have an itchy eye problem, please talk to me about it. You may have a sensitivity to the glue, inflammation of the eyelid (blepharitis), or something as simple as dry eyes or skin.

  • DO NOT pluck your lashes out. If your extensions are bothering you or you just don’t want to do the maintenance anymore, please schedule a removal appointment instead. I promise it will not offend me at all.

  • Do not use cotton rounds or q-tips around the eye area as cotton can snag on your eyelash extensions. Be careful when drying your face with a towel.

Avoid oil on or around the eye…

  • Oil on extensions will gradually break down the adhesive causing poor retention.

  • Many skin care products contain oil. If you have dry skin, use a water-based moisturizer instead (hyaluronic acid is a great substitute).

  • Your eyelids produce oil naturally. Again, regular cleansing will keep this oil off the extensions and they will last longer.
